The Policy Associate serves as a member of the policy team and supports aspects of the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky’s programmatic, policy and advocacy strategies.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the development of the Foundation’s policy priorities and equity goals that advance the mission of the Foundation.
  • Support policy advocacy through Foundation projects, initiatives, and events.
  • Provide support for Foundation-led coalitions and partnerships.
  • Participate as Foundation representative at policy related meetings, workgroups and on coalitions. Update policy team on key developments and action potential.

You’re good at:

  • Project management. Organization and detail oriented. This includes developing and managing work plans and timelines, scheduling and coordinating meetings, drafting requests for proposals for contractors or grantees, tracking budgets and contractor and grantee deliverables, and conducting site visits.
  • Researching topics, analyzing and tracking bills, gathering data, and drafting policy briefs.
  • Staying abreast of relevant health and health care literature and policy, and identifying emerging trends, leaders and innovators in health and state government.
  • Using data to assess and understand issues, evaluate options, and recommend policy changes to reduce disparities.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with colleagues, community partners, grantees and vendors.
  • Utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and open to learning other software programs.
  • Creating and sustaining positive working relationships with diverse constituencies.
  • Working independently and collaboratively.

Your background:

  • Education and/or work experience in the area of public health, health, public affairs, public policy, human services, legislative advocacy, political science, social justice policy and/or law.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience with health advocacy, community development, or community organizations preferred.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written.

SALARY RANGE: $43,500 - $65,250
