About Ashley Brauer
Ashley joined the Foundation in April 2021 and manages strategic communications, media relations, digital communications, the annual report and other publications. In addition, she manages grants to several nonprofit media outlets designed to increase the media’s coverage of health policy issues in Kentucky.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Ashley was vice president of Guthrie/Mayes Public Relations where she served numerous clients in the health, education, technology, automotive, distilled spirits, aerospace, and disaster relief fields. Clients included Forbes Global Top 25 companies, national and statewide nonprofits, and professional athletes. She also worked for The Al J. Schneider Company as marketing communications manager, responsible for internal and external communications for three hotels and a dozen restaurants. Ashley’s career began in television news, where she worked as a news producer in Louisville at WAVE-TV; Des Moines, Iowa, at WOI-TV; and Sioux City, Iowa, at KCAU-TV.
Ashley grew up in Kentucky, graduating from Glasgow High School before heading to the University of Kentucky. A change in major meant she headed to Bowling Green to attend Western Kentucky University. Ashley holds Bachelor of Arts degrees from WKU in broadcast news and psychology, and earned her Master of Business Administration at the University of Louisville. She is also a certified speechwriter from the Professional Speechwriting Association.
Ashley is an active member of the Rotary Club of Louisville, where she completed a three-year Leadership Fellowship, served as chair and vice chair of the Communications and Speaker committees. She was also elected to the Board of Directors for the 2021 – 2023 term. During her tenure, she’s received the “Service Above Self” award twice. Ashley has also volunteered with the University of Louisville MBA Alumni Council Executive Board, where she served as vice president, among other roles. Additionally, Ashley is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
